Starry Stonewart

Is an invasive and is considered a large algae. It can grow up to 30 feet deep and can persist in mild winters.

Mat -forming Algae

Algae growth can cause foul tastes and odors in the water. It can also discourage swimmers from using the beach and deter fishermen from visiting the area.

Phragmites

Is an invasive plant that will take spread rapidly in overflows and other areas around lakes disrupting water flow and offers very little habitat value.

Creeping water primrose

Is very common is shallow areas and is usually rooted in sediment areas close to the shoreline.

Chara

often called skunkweed is a type of macroalgae, not a true plant. It grows completely underwater and has a crunchy texture with a strong, musky odor when crushed.
